Worlds Collide

I read a funny post about Windows Vista the other day. Oddly enough, it wasn't on any of the tech blogs which I usually read. Instead, it was a blog to which my wife's blog links called Daring Young Mom. The particular post that made me laugh was about her getting a new laptop and Vista with it. Her description of all the versions of Vista was great:
"Apparently you can buy several versions of Microsoft Windows Vista – Toddler, Student, Dropout, Home, Vacation Home, Feckless Slacker, Bidness, Successful Bidness, and ULTIMATE."
Tonight, when I saw the new "Choose a Vista" ad on TV, it reminded me of Daring Young Mom's post and I asked my wife if she'd read it. She looked at me like I'd told her I borrowed her underwear and asked, "You mean the one on Daring Young Mom?" I guess I didn't realize that it was not common for geeks to read mom blog's. I hope some mom's read my geek blog. I hope that one day, moms and geeks will read each other's blogs, now that we know the two can cross with out the universe collapsing in on itself.

Being both a geek and a mom, I think there's a good case for us all to get along. Let's face it. I have a BLOG for goodness sake... and I'm married to a computer programmer.

This post really cracked me up.

I'm part of the bridge too... also married to a programmer, but sometimes he says he's a web developer. However that makes non-geeky people think that he buys land and then puts buildings on it.

Besides being a mom & having a (not-posted-to-often) blog, I'm a sign language interpreter. Maybe we can get multiple bridges to multiple places going? Come on Deaf Community & Interpreters! Show yourselves!

And I make 4! I've tried my whole life not to be geeky. But Daring Young Mom sucked me in to the blogosphere as well. She'll do that to ya!

My wife was not always a geek. But now I'm sure she is. I'll never forget the week she had to send her iMac into the Apple Store for a repair (shhh...Macs don't need repairs!). You'd think she'd stopped smoking or something. Thankfully, they fixed it and no one got hurt.

I am a MOM, I have two kinds of geeks in my house. I have one that is a geek like half of YOU..computers all the way (that is my son) and then I have my husband who is a geek like the other half of you. (theolog stuff all the way) SO I am a mom, married to a geek of one sort and I reproduced a geek of another. :) I say you read whatever blog you want but leave Julies underwear alone :)

I nominated you for "Best Geek Blog." You're certainly the best (only) geek blog I read. So far you have one vote. You only need 370 more to take over first place. Get your friends to go vote:

Suzanne, thanks for the nomination. I'll post a badge in my sidebar to point people to vote. I'm flattered to be your geek of choice (2nd to Brian :-).
